Satna, Sep 4: In a surprising manner, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Shankarlal Tiwari, who was absconding for 20 years, was arrested, then produced and granted bail within hours on Tuesday.
Tiwari was arrested today in connection with a 1997 case of assault on a police personnel in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.

The BJP MLA was produced before the Madhya Pradesh court.
According to the police, the MLA had been absconding for 20 years.
A case of physical assault on police personnel has been lodged against Tiwari. The CJM Court has termed Tiwari and 20 other political leaders as absconding and arrest warrants were issued against them.
Tiwari and 28 other MLAs stormed into a police station in Madhya Pradesh in 1997 and assaulted police personnel and damaged the office. Eight people were acquitted while 20 including Tiwari were announced absconding.
