17 killed in China coal mine explosion


Beijing, Dec 3, 2016: Seventeen people were confirmed dead and many others remained trapped following an explosion at a coal mine in China’s Mongolia region on Saturday.

The explosion occurred around midday at Baoma Mining Co. Ltd. in the city of Chifeng, Xinhua news agency quoted sources with the regional work safety authority as saying.

The local government has launched a search and rescue operation.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
