The incident, which occurred at around 4 in the morning, has disrupted the rail traffic on the route.
As per the initial reports, no casualties has been repoted so far. Top railway officials have reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
The goods train was coming from Gangavaram port in Andhra Pradesh to Haibargaon in Assam loaded with fertiliser.
The EcoR, however, said the train movement would not hamper much as trains will run on an alternate route via Barang/Kapilas road bypassing Cuttack station.
Several local passenger trains passing through the line have been cancelled.
