13 killed as earthquake hits Tanzania


Dodoma, Sep 11, 2016: An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale has killed at least 13 people and 203 injured in northwest Tanzania.

The quake was recorded at a depth of 10 km and located 44 km from Bukoba, close to the western shore of Lake Victoria.

Bukoba, population 70,000, where a majority of the casualties were reported. Photos posted on social media in Bukoba showed buildings collapsed.
