New Delhi, Jan 15: The 10 per cent reservation quota for economically-weaker sections will be implemented in all educational institutions from the academic year 2019.
Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar made the announcement on Tuesday.
President Ram Nath Kovind on January 12 approved the Constitution (One Hundred and Third Amendment) Act, 2019 that provides 10 per cent reservation to poor general category people in education and government jobs.
The Act amends Articles 15 and 16 of the Constitution to provide quota to the general category people with a family income of up to Rs 8 lakh per anum.
The Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha last week.
