Three Dallas police officers were killed by snipers on Thursday as protests were being held in the downtown area over the fatal police shootings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana this week.
Dallas Police Department Chief David Brown confirmed that 10 officers were shot by 2 snipers in downtown Dallas. 3 are dead, 3 are critical, and 2 are in surgery.
“Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally,” Brown said.
“Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition. An intensive search for suspects is currently underway. No suspects are in custody at this time.” he added
The shot officers include both Dallas police and DART officers.
It remains an active-shooter situation. Police have asked everyone to get to safety and avoid downtown Dallas.
