June 19, Monday: The probe initiated by Allahabad high court has revealed that Rs 10 crore was given to ensure bail of former Uttar Pradesh Minister Gayatri Prajapati in a rape case.
Senior advocate and Judges was also involved in this high-level corruption.
The probe directed by Allahabad high court Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale unveiled that money was paid for transferring of Judges who handle rape and crime cases.
The report said the grant of bail was settled upon payment of Rs 10 crore, of which Rs 5 crore was shared among three lawyers who acted as middlemen and Rs 5 crore was paid to the POCSO judge (Mishra) and district judge Rajendra Singh who posted Mishra to the sensitive court, TOI reported.
Additional District and Sessions Judge O P Mishra, who granted bail to Prajapati on April 25, was posted as POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) judge on April 7 just before three weeks left for retirement, the report added.
A FIR was filed against Prajapati who was then a minister in the Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party government and six others on February 17 last year on a Supreme Court directive.
After this was on the run for a month, later Prajapati was arrested from Lucknow on March 15 and was sent to jail in connection with allegedly raping a woman and attempting to rape her minor daughter in 2014.
Prajapati also moved to Supreme Court for the stay on his arrest but it rejected his appeal.
